Sanctions as the driver of development of engineering education in Russia

Introduction of sanctions by the European countries and by the USA influenced extremely negative on the development of national economy of the Russian Federation. Growth of inflation increases and foreign investments are reduced since 2014 in our country.  Already today positive sides are observed, for example, interest of the state in mechanical engineering, machine-tool construction and other vital branches of economy increases.

 Gradually there is a replacement of foreign production almost in all branches. Imposition of sanctions has the stimulating effect on revival of the plants and enterprises, which are standing idle long time due to the lack of opportunity to compete with cheaper foreign analogs. This transition of the machine-building sphere to production of own production forces to become popular engineering education again.

It should be noted that long before imposition of sanctions the appeared interest in engineering specialties was seen: to technologists, designers, and mechanics. And it is one of important problems of the state. Already now higher education institutions of Russia provide to 250 thousand budgetary places on engineering specialties. Increase of a demand to experts of this specialty inevitably stimulated improvement of terms of payment of their work.

The engineer becomes more and more prestigious, and a salary of similar experts is more competitive. Despite the advertised faculties of management and law, engineering education began to draw attention of young entrants more and more. This negative international situation is suitable for large-scale replacement of foreign machine-building and technical production with domestic analogs with development of own enterprises and plants.

And training of high quality and professional experts in this case plays a crucial role. Technical universities introduce new methods of training of specialists in training process, there is a potential for their further development. So, the project-oriented training starts taking root into educational process.
